Renault Samsung Motors (President & CEO Dominique Signora) announced on the 10th that it held the “2019 Supplier Convention” on the 7th at the Dragon City Hotel in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, to further strengthen trust with its partner companies.
A total of approximately 380 people attended this year’s Supplier Convention, including around 300 executives and employees from 239 Renault Samsung Motors partner companies, Dominique Signora, President & CEO of Renault Samsung Motors, and Hiroki Hasegawa, Head of Purchasing for the Asia Region at the Renault–Nissan–Mitsubishi Alliance.
At the event, Renault Samsung Motors shared its 2018 business performance and 2019 business goals, as well as management plans across various sectors including quality improvement measures and research and development. The company also presented awards to partner companies that achieved outstanding performance last year.
A total of eight partner companies across five categories were selected for the “Best Supplier of the Year” awards. Gestamp Cargotech Co., Ltd. received the “Win-Win Growth” award. The “Best Performance – BOP (Bought-Out Parts)” award went to Jeil Electronics Co., Ltd., Yujin SMR Automotive Co., Ltd., and Hanju Metal Co., Ltd. The “Best Performance – NBOP (Non-Bought-Out Parts)” award was presented to Daemyung Transport Co., Ltd. and Shinhwa Logis Co., Ltd. The “R&D” and “Quality” awards were presented to KSM and Heung-A Forming, respectively.
Hiroki Hasegawa, Head of Purchasing for the Asia Region at the Renault–Nissan–Mitsubishi Alliance, stated, “Renault Samsung Motors’ parts suppliers achieved KRW 1 trillion in exports to the Renault–Nissan Alliance last year,” adding, “We expect further growth in both parts and vehicle exports through continued strengthening of global competitiveness.”
Dominique Signora, President of Renault Samsung Motors, said, “The growth of our partner companies represents the growth of Renault Samsung Motors and, furthermore, the growth of Korea’s automotive industry,” adding, “This year as well, Renault Samsung will prioritize the values of win-win cooperation and sustainability to support the growth and technological innovation of our partners.”
Na Gi-won, Chairman of the Renault Samsung Motors Subcontractors Council, said, “Due to the ongoing delay in wage and collective bargaining negotiations and partial strikes, partner companies are facing serious difficulties, including reduced sales, workforce outflow, and declining employee morale,” and added, “Let us maintain the cooperative relationship built on trust and turn this crisis into an opportunity.”
